The original 1st-generation iPhone was a GSM phone and established design precedents, such as a button placement that has persisted throughout all releases. This design patent protects the sleek shape and design of the iPhone 3G. Steve Jobs is listed as one of the inventors along with Jony Ives and a few other folks at Apple.
